Exactly so. I can’t express now much I’m looking forward to boring my grandchildren with stories of life when the Internet looked like this. We might have a dog, then, too.

I’m surprisingly disappointed that Odetta hasn’t made hypem’s most blogged artists.

Ella Fitzgerald - Midnight Sun

I haven’t been posting to @lotd all that much recently. No particular reason, I just haven’t been inspired recently…then last night this track popped up. The lyrics, by Johnny Mercer, are lush and quintessential Tin Pan Alley—but ironically enough, written as the style was expiring if not dead already.

And of course, it doesn’t hurt that it’s Ella singing music composed by Lionel Hampton, but it’s still the lyrics that grab me.

Your lips were like a red and ruby chalice, warmer than the summer night
The clouds were like an alabaster palace rising to a snowy height.
Each star its own aurora borealis, suddenly you held me tight
I could see the Midnight Sun.

Just saw a bus ad for Billy Elliott, The Musical. Can you believe that people say that the legitimate theater is dead?

And another conference that someone else should pay for me to attend:

“Glue is about all of bits and pieces, APIs and meta-data, standards and connectors that will help us to glue together the varying applications of the new platform.”

Excellent!
